What autonomy for a Tesla

Updated: Dec 12, 2024

Electric vehicles such as Mercedes and Porsche have a range of up to 850 km. What about Teslas, who are also known for their good performance?

What autonomy for Tesla

At present, Tesla brand electric vehicles have two models: model Y, S, 3 and X 4. Thus, the number of kilometers that can be driven without recharging the battery varies from 513 km to 634 km, depending on the model. If autonomy is your main criterion, then the Tesla Model S is the car of your dreams

Tesla Model Y: 3 complementary Levels of autonomy,

The Tesla Model Y is the world's best-selling electric car. It is available in 3 models offering 3 types of autonomy.

Performance

The range of performance models is 514 km. This electric car can travel 50,000 km in just 15 minutes at the supercharger terminal, one of the 241 charging stations developed by Tesla

Long-distance all-wheel drive

AWD stands for all wheel drive. The range of the Tesla Y Grande autonomy AWD model is 533 km. The same amount of energy can be recovered by charging at Tesla's charging station

Long autonomy of rear-wheel drive

Finally, the latest version of the Tesla Model Y is the Long Autonomy RWD (Real-Wheel Drive). Depending on the size of the rim, the degree of autonomy varies.

Tesla Model S:

Models with the best autonomy in the range

The model S is divided into 2 versions: standard and plaid. The 2nd car is distinguished by the fact that it is the fastest in the entire series, especially since thanks to the maximum speed of 322 km / h, it accelerates from 2.1 to 0 km / h in 100 seconds.

Model S

The Tesla model S has greater autonomy than the plaid version. In fact, with it you can cover 634 kg. For comparison: Brussels is 322 km from Paris. Therefore, it is possible to reciprocate without recharging the battery

However, you should not miss the plaid version, because it can drive 600km before it needs to be recharged. The plaid of the model S is not only fast, but also has excellent autonomy

Tesla Model 3:

Good autonomy at a low price

The Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable model of the entire model range. It exists in 3 versions with interesting autonomy

Tesla Model 3 propulsion is the only model of the brand with a maximum charging power of 170 kW. Other models can produce up to 250 kW.

However, after traveling a distance of 513 km, the propulsion can regain more autonomy than the corresponding one with the same charging time (15 minutes): for example, in S or Y, it is 241 km compared to 282 km.

Long-distance all-wheel drive

The 3rd version of the Tesla model 2 is a high autonomy AWD. It has an excellent range of 629 km and a maximum charging power of 250 kW (in the same way as a supercharger).

Performance

Finally, the Tesla model 3 will offer a range of 15km and a recovery of 528km with a charging time of 228 minutes at the public terminal

Standard autonomy

Tesla Model X is a model for the family. It is a 2,614-seater SUV with ample storage space (cargo capacity of 7l).

Model X

When we think about family, we think about frequent trips. But the Tesla model, if your child's school is near your place of residence, this is enough

Model X Plaid

Other versions of the model X, plaid, have a slightly higher range: 576 km

How can we improve Tesla's autonomy ?

The Tesla Model S is the model with the highest autonomy on paper. But did you know that the latter is not fixed? If you treat your car incorrectly, its autonomy is affected. If you pamper your battery, you can also improve its performance

The image shows five battery symbols with different charge levels, from empty to full, against a black background. It visually represents different phases of battery life.

Are these Tesla chargers really great? What are the risks of fast charging an electric car? In fact, all ultra-fast charging stations, such as superchargers and Ionity network charging points, have one thing in common: 1. This is up to 350 kW. However, the effects of this energy can lead to excessive heat generation and affect battery life in the long run. In other words, if you use a supercharger from time to time, you should not risk too much

Charging at home

But nothing beats a home charging station. In fact, finding a public charging station on the go is not always easy, not to mention the terminals available at any time! If you want to install a terminal like Ekwateur at home, just plug in your Tesla before going to bed and drive it with a full battery the next day.
